In the Full Light of the Celtic Day

The daylight is bright

Almost to blindness.

In my blood I feel the full power

That the Y chromosome can transmit,

From father to son through generations,

Raised on story, song, tales, myths and legend:

The heroes of old, Fionn and Arthur

And the praise poems that relate their exploits.

My line is ancient,

Sons of Nechtan, kings and princes,

Pharaohs maybe, the last of Dynasties

Conquered and Exiled from the Nile delta.

Great river of life-giving water,

Is it your force I feel in my veins?
